Philanthropy

        Each year, the Tau Mu chapter of Chi Omega hosts Bowl For Wishes, a bowling tournament benefitting the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Chi Omega’s official philanthropy. Last year, Chi Omega raised over $6,000 and granted the wish of a St. Louis Wish Kid to visit DisneyWorld. The WashU community joined chi Omega in supporting Make-A-Wish while having lots of fun. Bowl for Wishes was a huge success!


        At this year's Relay for Life, teams from Chi Omega raised over $5500 for the American Cancer Society. Our chapter also won the Greek Spirit Award! Congratulations, girls! Chi Omega also sent six full teams to Dance Marathon, an all-night dance party. Dance Marathon 2006raised over $122,000 for the benefit of Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital.


        Thurtene Carnival is an incredible community carnival that brings together over 50 student groups in a fun, entertaining event for the greater St. Louis community. All proceeds from the carnival benefit local charities. In 2007, Thurtene donated to the George Washington Carver House, an organization serving the youth of St. Louis. Each year, Greek chapters and student groups design and build one-of-a-kind façades. They also write and perform original plays during the carnival. Chi Omega has partnered with Beta Theta Pi fraternity for the past four Carnivals. In 2006, the chapters' Egyptian façade won Best Production. This year, the Thurtene Honorary awarded Chi Omega and Beta Theta Pi’s efforts with the Greenest Group Award!

        Chi Omega members also support other Greeks in their philanthropic events:

        Each year the Chi Omega Foundation raises thousands of dollars to help Chi Omegas of all ages. Whether through scholarships, leadership programs, or grants to aidChi Omega alumnae during a crisis, the Foundation is in existence to help our members with their educational goals and leadership development.Women across the nation seek assistance from the Foundation in order to reach their educational and career goals. Chi Omega helps these women fulfill their dreams through national and chapter scholarships.
